Cambodian and Khmer Krom name System

Cambodian names almost always consist of two elements: surname + given name. (In the Western sometime they have some confuse between surname and given name.  However, some Cambodians indicate their names with their given name before their surname. There are no middle names. Generally, women are given names of things of beauty, while men are given names of virtues. Surnames are usually taken from the surname or the given name of the father and are generally monosyllabic. For example my name is Sao Somet and my father’s name is Nen Sao. So, my surname I taken from my father’s given name, not his sure name. Cambodian people are called by their given names without a title (informal) or by their given names with a title (formal); surnames are not a usual form of address.
For Khmer Krom name, before they also done that but after taking side is the cause of conflicts and controlled of foreign countries. So, the name system depends on their culture used like Vietnamese system always consist three elements: a family name, a middle name and a given name, used in that order like Chinese system either. But after have many conquers between Vietnamese and Khmer Krom. So, Vietnam had given 6 surnames for Khmer Krom such as Kim, Thạch, Chao, Son, Tra and Tran. In present time rarely have Khmer Krom in high position of government officers as well as NGO in South Vietnam. Be cause Vietnam government don’t want Khmer Krom be stronger or know well. They afried Khmer Krom have oportunities to do something else, For example, my familly’s surnam is Thach, Surname is Thach most of them from farmers, my name when I was in Vietnam named:Thach Thuong, Thach is Surname and Thuong is given name. For Wonmen have three syllables, they add one word Thị as middle name, for noted that name is a Woman. So, for women have to use middle name either.
